Come White Horses
First in a series of 3
Marble, gold leaf metal frame, silk cord
75x20x50cm approx
A vintage child's toy cast in composite marble and remounted
on it's original frame, now transformed. Marble always implies the monumental and here adds pathos to nostalgia. Come White
Horses was the sentimental theme song to an old TV series, a favourite of mine. It also references water, drugs and something more corporeal and potentially sexual. The notion of a sit-on, push-along horse also for me goes beyond a childhood game and enters an adult world of memory, imagination and an academic exploration of girlhood sexuality.
